5 weeks out of warranty. 1 week over due a service. Got back off holiday the car was ok for 1 day. A 1.6 will run very happily without a MAP sensor so i can't see that being a problem. I went to FIAT they charge me £50 to tell me it was a Variable Timing problem and quoted my £1500! Got it done with another mechanic (Timing Belt + Water Pump + Variable Time unit) £500 Incl labour. 1 day Later - SAME Problem! FIAT Stilo 1.6 2002 16V - Car keeps cutting out - injection doc. Simples. Remove the sports air filter and fit a genuine panel filter. They just dont suit some cars. May well be making it run too weak ! Worth looking at the fuel correction values within the ECU to see what % they are running at.
I'm afraid, that ECU is faulty - because when you make pressure to the connector it helps usually the pins of connector are soldered directly to ECU PCB, so the problem should be there on ECU PCB - and it is know, there is problem with "ball" soldering of main processor on 1.6 petrol ECUs, see end of this thread:
